Totul a început în iulie, când am descoperit pentru prima oară adăpostul pentru câini al lui Patrocle, îmi amintesc de parcă ar fi fost ieri. Era o zi ploioasă și treceam printr-o perioadă grea cu colegii mei, pentru că trebuia să ne schimbăm locul de muncă.

Colegul nostru ne-a oferit să ne conducă la adăpostul pentru câini al lui Patrocle pentru o intervenție. La început am fost nedumeriți și nu am înțeles unde încearcă să ne ducă, dar când am aflat că mergem la un adăpost pentru câini am fost încântați. Pentru o secundă, ne-a făcut să ne simțim ca niște eroi și să uităm de situația noastră.

Prin urmare, așa cum am planificat inițial, ne-am adunat și am dus câinele la veterinar. Din păcate, la acea oră, medicul veterinar nu era disponibil și ne-a instruit să ducem câinele la adăpost și să-l aducem mâine la examinare. Cumva, se părea că misiunea noastră eșuase, dar a trebuit să vizităm adăpostul și să avem grijă de cățeluș, ceea ce am și făcut.

Am fost întâmpinați la adăpost de câini mari, mici și chiar pisici, fiecare încercând să-și exprime dragostea în felul său specific și dorind să meargă într-un cămin sigur.

La început, nici nu știam cum să reacționăm, văzând toată acea energie și dragoste pură. A fost greu să ne ținem departe de ei și am fost cu toții înconjurați de suflete mici, toți dorind să-și exprime dragostea și să aibă un moment de recunoaștere.

Ne-am jucat ore întregi cu ei și, sinceră sa fiu, nu am observat că trec minutele, ne-am pierdut în inocența și emoția lor. M-am bucurat să-mi văd prietenii râzând și jucându-se cu cățeii, parcă ajunserăm într-o lume magică în care toate problemele dispăruseră.

Am vrut ca ziua să nu se sfârșească niciodată, să ne bucurăm de energia și fericirea acestor animale de companie pentru totdeauna. Din păcate, era practic imposibil, oricât de mult ne-am fi dorit să le luăm cu noi.

Ziua aceea a fost una dintre cele mai frumoase din viața mea, dar și una dintre cele mai triste în același timp. Am părăsit adăpostul cu durere în suflet, auzindu-le schelălăiturile triste, știind ca ne-am jucat impreuna dar îi lăsăm în urmă.

Realitatea tristă

Dacă ești atent la aceste sărace suflete, poți vedea sub entuziasmul lor, cu ochii înlăcrimați, determinarea lor de a aparține cuiva și de a-i face o viață plăcută, ce contează pentru ei. Evident, nu ajung într-un adăpost pentru câini deoarece au avut o viață grozavă, si i-au iubit proprietarii, este exact opusul.

Adăpostul „Casa lui Patrocle” are grijă de animale, dar ceea ce nu pot garanta este iubirea sinceră a unei persoane care îi poate iubi necondiționat și îi poate face să se simtă speciali.

În spatele barierei metalice, le poți vedea dorința de a încerca să accepte un nou proprietar, o rază de speranță. Au doar vizitatori de cele mai multe ori, la fel ca noi și, oricât de încântați ar fi, ajung cu ceilalți câini la sfârșitul zilei, neștiind de viitorul lor.

Adăpostul ‘Casa lui Patrocle’ face tot posibilul să păstreze aceste animale bine îngrijite, bine hrănite și în siguranță. Adăpostește peste 300 de câini chiar în prezent și numărul este în continuă creștere. În plus, parvovirusul face victime în fiecare zi și devine aproape imposibil ca personalul să le asigure tot ceea ce au nevoie.

Patrocle’s dog shelter

It all began in July, when I first found the Patrocle’s house dog shelter, I remember it as if it had been yesterday. It was a rainy day, and I was going through a tough time with my colleagues because we had to change our workplace and start a new journey. We were sad, irritated, and wished to simply disappear for a moment.

Our colleague noticed our mood and offered to drive us to Patrocle’s dog shelter for a rescue. At first, we were puzzled and didn’t understand where he was trying to take us, but when we learned we would go to a dog shelter and save a dog’s life we were excited. For a second, it made us look like tiny heroes and forget about our situation.

Therefore, as initially planned, we gathered and took the dog to the vet. Unfortunately, at that hour, the vet was not available and instructed us to take the dog to the shelter and take him for examination tomorrow. Somehow, it seemed that our mission had failed, but we had to visit the shelter and take good care of the puppy, which we did.

We were welcomed to the shelter by big dogs, little puppies, and even cats, each one of them trying to express their love in their specific way and wanting to go to a safe and secure home.

In the beginning, we didn’t even know how to respond, seeing all of that energy and pure love. It was so difficult to keep away from them, and we were all surrounded in the next few minutes by little souls, all wanting to express their love and have a moment of recognition. The little dogs appeared from everywhere, each and one of them jumping around with joy, barking and wagging their tails.

We’ve been playing with them for hours, and frankly, we haven’t noticed the minutes go by and got lost in their innocence and excitement. I got to see my friends laughing and having a wonderful time, playing and forgetting it all. It was like we were walking into a world of magic where all the problems had disappeared.

We wanted the day to never end and to enjoy these pets’ energy and happiness forever. Unfortunately, it was practically impossible, no matter how much we needed to take them with us.

That day was one of the most beautiful days of my life, but one of the saddest ones at the same time. As we left the shelter, my heart was aching, hearing their sad crying and thinking that we had such a wonderful time, but we were leaving them behind.

The harsh reality

If you pay attention to these poor souls, you can see under their enthusiasm, their running eyes their determination to belong to someone, and make it a pleasant, worthwhile life for them. They don’t end up in a dog shelter because they had a great life or over loving owners, it’s exactly the opposite.

The dog shelter of Patrocle takes good care of the dogs, but what they can not guarantee is an owner’s true love, a human who can love them unconditionally and make them feel special.

Behind the metallic barrier, you can see their desire to try to accept a new owner, a ray of hope. They just have visitors most of the time, like us, and no matter how excited they are, they end up with the other dogs at the end of the day, unaware of their future.
