I was thinking these days about why it is so hard to let go of the reminiscences of feeling hurt, being injured and going through unfortunate moments in life. We all go through them at some point in this life, and it’s inevitable.

We cannot stop those critical moments to arrive, they are meant to be. Accidents, an injury, a painful situation, and even a broken heart, they are present to make us realize something. To mature.

It is awful to go through bad moments in life, but they are in there to teach us a lesson. Lessons that will cause tears, that are painful and may be lessons that will follow us an entire lifetime.

We have 2 huge options: take it or leave. You may think that leaving will be the best option, having to forget the circumstance that caused us pain and simply ignore it when life brings it upon us.

But then, are we born cowards? Why can’t we just take it as it is, learn the lesson, accept it, and when life will bring new challenges and new sorrows, simply relate to it? It’s time to take perspective and cherish the moments that we have taken for granted.

We cannot run an entire lifetime of our fears, might as well confront them. Take the good out of the troubles and be a winner. So what if we bleed? What if we are injured and can barely stand? What if we remain with scars that will show?

We are humans and have a story to tell. Every person has a specific distinction in this life and everything is written on our bodies, our skin, our eyes. We can read everything clearly, but then, we often chose to judge instead of seeing through them and understand the story.

If we have gone through unfortunate events, cried our eyes out, what did we learn from it? The attitude of the evil people, judging and telling us what to do, or what we felt within? Everyone suffers wrongs for which there is no remedy. Let’s not make it worse than it is because of selfish pride.

Going through rough times makes us feel humble, teaches us to appreciate every moment that we have, gives perspective. This is why we need to be strong, accepting reality, and move on. Even if the taste is bitter, even if it is painful and our heart sinks in sadness.

At the end of the day, nobody wants to hear about anybody else’s injuries. We all have our mountain of sorrow and at times, ours is enough to carry.

When we feel it’s too much, let’s look at the blue clear sky and take a deep breath, close our eyes, exhale and say thank you. God never gives us more than we can take, and we have to be thankful for all that we can bear.

  1. Hello Katherine! All of what you said here is profoundly accurate and the truth. You have a fine, honest and appreciative outlook on life and you recognize there is the something bigger than any of us at work in it, and we need to deal with it, accepting the whole ball of wax as I say; take the good with the bad and ugly! I find your perspective remarkable and wise, so this is very noteworthy for me to know this about you; which made me happy for you, honestly. I loved all of your words and I want to leave these additional wise ones that I always loved since many years ago when they were told to me by a relative. “God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change…The Courage to change the things the things I can….and the Wisdom to know the difference.” These words came to my mind again because of you saying, “God never gives us more than we can take, and we have to be thankful for all that we can bear.” Those are such words of Wisdom; and the relative told me those also many years ago, so you were like a beautiful friendly loving voice from my past speaking to me through time and space; even now that this relative is in Heaven. Thank you for rekindling these perfect words of Wisdom that are forever etched in my heart and soul; and by so doing, inspiring me with God’s love today! God bless you friend and kindred spirit!
